Everest Contracting was pleased to report to its client recently that remedial work on the 36 balconies plus variations at Ocean Street, Woollahra, was continuing despite rain delays and Covid-19 interruptions.

This set of three 8-storey residential tower blocks with with double skin masonry façade had balustrades that didn’t meet current standards amongst other defects. The work required included concrete spalling repairs, waterproofing, painting, tiling and drainage work. Everest Contracting secured the contract with our high quality control standards and workmanship. We also considered the project holistically to ensure each relevant section did not have a negative impact on subsequent works and that the occupants of the units were treated with consideration at this difficult time.

The balconies are being upgraded to full framed aluminium with glass infills with new anchor points, the drainage capacity is being increased and new flexible sealant installed.

The rains delays impacted on waterproofing work, but we were able to focus on other issues to ensure the project remained on track.
