This month, Everest Contracting celebrates 15 years of restoring Sydney’s living and working spaces to their potential so that you, our valued clients, can achieve yours. From iconic flagpoles to revitalising shopping centres and buildings paying tribute to NSW health workers, every one of our diverse projects reflects our commitment to quality and integrity.

Celebrating with a Gift for Building Consultants and Managers

Thanks to Covid-19 restrictions, a big party is not an option, so instead we are celebrating by offering a gift for building consultants and managers – a free initial consultation on zoom so we can all stay safe yet still make eye contact and give quality advice. We hope our gift can help them to get a start on covid-stalled major building repairs and to beat the queue as construction ramps up rapidly after lockdown.

Another way to celebrate a special occasion is to reconnect with old friends so we have decided to add Instagram to our online communication methods so we can stay in touch more easily with those who prefer it to LinkedIn and Facebook.

Built on Local Expertise and Family Values

We certainly did not expect to be celebrating our milestone anniversary in this way when Everest Contracting began. One of our first projects was remediating Darling Habour’s iconic Bicentennial Flagpole.

Everest Contracting was established in 2006 by Robin Shaw, a Civil Engineer with 25 years’ experience in civil engineering and building services. For many of the previous 10 years Robin specialised in constructing and refurbishing water retaining structures, both in Australia and overseas. When he turned to establishing his own business in Sydney so he could spend more time with his growing family, he discovered his engineering and waterproofing experience was just what so many building consultants and managers in Sydney were looking for.

With about 75 per cent of all building defects being related to water ingress, his experience meant he could quickly identify and find the best and lasting solutions to increase the longevity of Sydney’s ageing buildings. His consideration for people at all levels and hard work building a team with integrity and the drive to always deliver their best work, has also helped the business to grow rapidly. Contracts worth $10 million plus are no longer a rarity and often over 30 projects are running concurrently; a credit to this Sydney-based, family owned and values driven business.

Demand for Heritage Restoration Grows

Robin’s interest and work in heritage construction led to many successful heritage projects in the past 15 years with buildings such as the Newtown Performing Arts Centre, Kent Street Sydney commercial facades, the Vador Apartments in Annandale and Kogarah Town Centre being restored to their former glory and secured for the future.

Tribute to NSW Health Workers History

Mr Shaw said it seemed fitting that on their ‘covid-impacted’ anniversary, one of the jobs about to be completed was part of a tribute to NSW health workers. Everest Contracting is finalising work at the historic Prince Henry Hospital at Little Bay, including restoring the historic Clock Tower and stained glass windows of the Nurses Chapel. The Hospital precinct was established in 1881 as NSW’s first hospital for infectious diseases. Now the Prince Henry Hospital Nursing and Medical Museum pays tribute to past staff and patients and to the general history of medicine in NSW through preserving and sharing its extensive collection of documents, artefacts and memorabilia.
Mr Shaw said he values quality craftsmanship on all his projects but working on completing this tribute to NSW health workers was a wonderful way to culminate 15 years of heritage and remedial building.
Building consultants and managers can collect their anniversary gift of the free 30 minute zoom or phone call by emailing or calling Everest Contracting Business Manager Anthia Shaw at anthia@everestcontracting.com.au or PH: 02 9417 3711.
